The  CRF-TRF building is a collocated building providing hi-technology science and clinical research facilities with direct access to the University Hospital and Clinical Sciences Institute. It is a joint development of the National University of Ireland, Galway and the Health Service Executive (NUIG/HSE). Located within the grounds of the University College Hospital, Galway, the site is approximately 0.25 hectares in area and is located towards the southern boundary of the hospital campus.

The building is arranged as a predominantly horizontal facility with accommodation spread over four floors, along with a roof-level plant penthouse and with links to the existing CSI and existing ward block. The Clinical Research Facility (CRF) is accommodated on the ground and first floors and includes two main patient zones along with, inpatient, staff-support and research zones.
