Principality Stadium – LED Lighting Installation

The Principality Stadium, home to the Welsh Rugby Union, is one of the UK’s most iconic sports and entertainment venues, with a seating capacity of 74,000.

The stadium transitioned to a custom-designed LED lighting system developed by Musco Sports Lighting, aimed at meeting UEFA and FIFA broadcast standards in preparation for hosting matches during UEFA Euro 2028.

McSherry Electrical played a pivotal role in the successful delivery of the new sports lighting system at Principality Stadium, working in close collaboration with Musco Lighting. Their responsibilities included the full electrical installation and integration of Musco’s advanced LED luminaires, ensuring seamless operation within the stadium’s existing infrastructure.

The system delivers exceptional light levels, glare reduction, and uniformity across the pitch, ensuring optimal visibility for players, spectators, and broadcasters. The lighting system also includes colour-changing special effects technology, enabling dynamic light shows for concerts and major events.
